Potluck takes a tropical turn

The Tampa Bay Sierra Club is hosting a tropical holiday party at 7 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Seminole Heights Garden Center.

Partygoers are encouraged to don their favorite tropical attire and bring a covered dish for the potluck dinner.

An awards presentation for this year's club members and activists will be followed by dancing.

The free party is open to the public. Seminole Heights Garden Center is at 5800 Central Ave. For more information, call 741-3054.

Lunchtime lecture burns the calories

Join fitness instructor and lifestyle consultant June Kittay for "Why Exercise," a free group stretch and health lecture that will provide tips on eating, exercise and reducing stress.

Bring your lunch at noon to Lykes Gaslight Square for stretching exercises for all abilities.

Participants are encouraged to wear flat shoes and loose-fitting clothing.

Monday: "The Art of Food and Nutrition"

Dec. 11: "Food Sensitivities Testimonial"
