One of two drivers injured in a crash Saturday has died. Christos Neofotistos, 74, of Dunedin, was struck by Jesse Lee Chitren, 17, of Belleair Beach, after the teenager ran a red light at Belcher Road and Solon Avenue, according to Pinellas County sheriff's officials. Neofotistos, who died about 11 a.m. Thursday, was trying to turn left onto Solon Avenue and was not wearing a seat belt. He was thrown from his Chevrolet van in the collision, which caused both cars to slide into a cement traffic signal pole, investigators said. Chitren, who drove a 2000 Nissan truck and was wearing a seat belt, remained hospitalized Thursday at Bayfront Medical Center, where both drivers were flown with serious injuries after the crash. An investigation is continuing, sheriff's officials said.
