Chris Lofton scored 20, Wayne Chism added 13 and Tennessee beat Murray State 89-64 on Friday.
Lofton made his first four attempts - all 3-pointers - in the first half when the Volunteers (6-2) led by as many as 18.
The Vols were playing at home for the first time since Nov. 19.
"It's good to be back home. I can tell you that. Our kids were excited about playing at home," Tennessee coach Bruce Pearl said.
The Racers (2-6) opened the second half with a 7-0 run to cut the lead to 42-35, but Tennessee followed with a 15-0 run started on a basket by Duke Crews. Chism's dunk made it 57-35 with 15:05 left.
Murray State couldn't keep up afterward.
Lofton cooled off and finished 5-of-9 from the floor and 4-of-7 beyond the arc.
Crews and Dane Bradshaw each scored 12.
The Racers had 23 turnovers and were outrebounded 43-30. Tyler Holloway, Danero Thomas and Marvin Williams led Murray State with nine points each.
ST. JOHN'S 78, UMBC 57: Lamont Hamilton scored 19 points to lead host St. John's. Anthony Mason Jr. had a career-high 17 points and Avery Patterson added 16 for the Red Storm (4-3). Brian Hodges led Maryland-Baltimore County (3-4) with 19 points, and Mike Housman finished with 13.
CORNELL 99, VMI 94: Louis Dale and Ryan Wittman each had 18 points to lead Cornell in the William & Mary Tip-Off Classic. The Big Red (4-3) had a total of seven players in double figures and kept host Virginia Military (3-6) to 36.4 percent from the field.
COPPIN ST. 69, LASALLE 68: Darryl Roberts hit a 3-pointer with 18.8 seconds left to lead Coppin State at the Hawkeye Challenge, hosted by Iowa. Tywain McKee scored a season-high 31 and Roberts added 15 for Coppin State (2-5), which was outrebounded 48-27.
TOWSON 67, VERMONT 54: Gary Neal scored 21 of his 29 points in the second half. Tim Crossin added 13 points for host Towson (4-3), who had lost three of four.
NAVY 61, LONGWOOD 59 (OT): Greg Sprink had 16 points and nine rebounds to lead Navy. Corey Johnson tied the score at 50 for the visiting Midshipmen (6-2) on a jump shot with 22 seconds left and made way for a 9-0 run early in overtime.
SANTA CLARA 71, ALABAMA ST. 45: Josh Higgins scored 17 to lead Santa Clara (5-2) in the Price Cutter Classic, hosted by Missouri State. Santa Clara outrebounded Alabama State 44-31, scoring 28 in the paint to eight for Alabama State.
NORTH DAKOTA ST. 57, PRINCETON 50: Ben Woodside scored 20 to lead North Dakota State in the opening game of the Pepsi Blue & Gold Classic, hosted by Marquette. Mike Nelson had 16 points and Brett Winkleman added 11 points and 10 rebounds for North Dakota State (4-2).
SAN FRANCISCO 71, SE LOUISIANA 56: Armondo Surratt hit four 3-pointers and scored 16 points to lead San Francisco in the Lou Henson Classic, hosted by New Mexico State. Surratt hit 4 of 6 3-pointers for the Dons (4-4), who never trailed and held a double-digit lead for most of the game.
WEST FLORIDA 74, SAINT LEO 71: The visiting Lions (2-3) got 17 points each from Alleo Frazier and Jordan Prais.
NO. 14 ARIZONA ST. 73, BOSTON UNIVERSITY 53: Danielle Orsillo scored 19 points and Briann January added 16 points and seven rebounds to lead host No. 14 Arizona State (6-1) in the first round of the ASU Classic. The Sun Devils held Terriers' leading scorer Katie Meinhardt to six points -- nine under her average.
WEST GEORGIA 42, SAINT LEO 40: Guard Roni Carithers scored 10 for visiting Saint Leo (2-5), which was outrebounded 46-33.
