A tale of two standouts

Coach of the Year

Tom Fisher, Zephyrhills: Led Bulldogs to consecutive playoff berths; first district title since 2002.

QB, Joe Weatherford, Sr., Land O'Lakes: Led the county as a pocket passer with 2,141 yards. How many Weatherfords are left?

RB, Byronell Arline, Jr., Ridgewood: Could become first player in county history to win three straight rushing titles next year.

RB, Mario Melvin, Sr., Wesley Chapel: Shifty back known for making tacklers miss. Perhaps suited for a career in dance?

WR, Develin Robinson, Sr., Land O'Lakes: Arguably the most talented player in Pasco County with speed, power, finesse and size.

WR, Shawn Williamson, Sr., Gulf: Tall receiver with big-play ability. Overcame a broken leg suffered in Bucs' spring game.

WR, Mychael Floyd, Sr., Zephyrhills: Our surprise Playmaker of the Year.

K/P, Jon Heiser, Sr., Wesley Chapel: One of top kickers/punters in Pasco County. And he's a nice guy.

OL, Andrew Smith, Sr., Zephyrhills: They call him "Big Red" because of his red hair. And he's a big pain to get around for pass rushers.

OL, John Karakaris, Jr., Ridgewood: Key component of an offensive line that got better and better.

OL, Kamran Joyer, So., Wesley Chapel: At 6-4, 315 pounds he is one of the biggest players in Pasco County.

OL, Gary Brizzolari, Sr., Mitchell: Tate Humphrey stole the headlines, but Mustangs running game was good, too.

OL, Josh Curtis, Sr., Ridgewood: Proved that size doesn't matter, opening hole for our POY.

ATH, Jerome Blyden, Sr., Land O'Lakes: Nasty linebacker with a knack for big hits and huge plays.

TE, Will Nichols, Jr., Ridgewood: You might have missed his touchdown catches in each of the first five games.

DL, Cameron Pope, Sr., Pasco: Huge force that clogged up the middle and demanded double teams.

DL, Darrick Fullwood, Sr., Land O'Lakes: Opposing coaches said he might have been the best around.

DL, Travis Tindell, Sr., Hudson: Mean, nasty dude in the trenches; O-linemen hated him.

DL, McClain Bryant, Jr., Pasco: Straight shooter with great athletic ability.

LB, John Weatherford, Jr., Land O'Lakes: Hard-nosed player who has a cool MySpace page where he's dressed like John Travolta.

LB, Vince Chalecki, Sr., Wesley Chapel: Will be remembered as a quiet, hard-hitting linebacker. Did we say quiet?

LB, Ben Perry, Jr., Ridgewood: Led the county with 164 tackles and came this close to earning defensive POY honors.

LB, Beau Barnes, Sr., Zephyrhills: Most underrated defensive player in Pasco County.

DB, Brad Patton, Sr., Land O'Lakes: Helped lead trio of seniors to school record in interceptions.

DB, Dontarrius Thomas, Sr., Land O'Lakes: Wharton transfer left his mark on both sides of the ball with great catches and big plays.

DB, Sederrik Cunningham, Sr., Zephyrhills: Proved there was life after Bryan Thomas, leading the Bulldogs to consecutive postseason berths.

DB, Cameron Harris, Sr., Land O'Lakes: Another one of those Gators' secondary guys with great hands and vision.

ATH, Alton Voss, Sr., Gulf: Perhaps the best all-around athlete in Pasco County. If it were up to us, he would play defense in college.
