Singing Christmas Tree: The Celebration Choir and dance and drama participants of Crystal River First Baptist Church will present the first performance of Journey to the Manger at 4 p.m., 700 Citrus Ave., Crystal River. Painting workshop: Central Florida Community College will offer a Bob Ross oil painting workshop from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in building L2-103, 3800 S Lecanto Highway, Lecanto. AARP Driver Safety Program: Each month several safe driving classes are offered throughout Citrus County. Two 4-hour classes are conducted, and attendees learn important driving tips that may save a life. Christmas Hams: Bring a dish or dessert to share at 5 p.m., then sit back and enjoy the 6 p.m. "Hams'' Christmas show at First Presbyterian Church in Webster Hall, 1501 SE U.S. 19, Crystal River. "Beautiful Songs of Christmas" will provide an evening of fun, food, music, dance, comedy and skits. A surprise Christmas dessert will be furnished. Admission is free; fun for all ages.

Two Day Southern Monster Truck Showdown: gates open at 6 p.m., show begins at 7:30, same hours Saturday, Hernando County Fairgrounds, 6436 S Broad St., Brooksville. War stories and Christmas party: Dr. Robert Walker, former WWII Tuskegee Airman who graduated from the first all-Black pilot's program, will be the guest speaker at the Yankee Air Force meeting and Christmas party at 1 p.m., Dunnellon Airport, 15070 SW 111 St. Dr. Walker will recount stories of escorting bombers in P-51's during the war. DEC. 10

Citrus Springs holiday parade: "Tropical Christmas" parade staging begins at 1 p.m. next to the fountain. The parade starts at 2 p.m, ending at the Wesley Jones Park on Citrus Springs Boulevard.

Holiday program: Carol Kline entertains at 2 p.m., Beverly Hills Recreation Association, 77 Civic Circle. Coffee and cake served. Admission: $6. Call 746-4882.

Christmas in the park: Winding River Garden Club of Yankeetown-Inglis will present its annual celebration at 2 p.m., Winding River Park at Riverside and 56th streets, Yankeetown. Refreshments will be served, and entertainment will be provided by a local musician with sing-a-long caroling. Santa Claus will arrive by boat with gifts for the kids.
