Clippers take out streaking Magic

Elton Brand scored 31 on 12-for-14 shooting to help the Clippers beat the Magic 116-91 on Sunday night, snapping Orlando's seven-game winning streak.

Tim Thomas added 20 points for the Clippers, who won for just the second time in eight games.

Dwight Howard had 16 points and Hedo Turkoglu added 15 for the Magic, which had its roughest night on what had been a stellar road trip.

The Magic, which still has the best record in the Eastern Conference, was 3-0 on the trip and had won four straight on the road overall. The Magic has lost just twice in 12 games.

The Clippers led by 17 at halftime, and the Magic was within single digits just twice in the second half.

Corey Maggette added 17 points and Sam Cassell had 13 for the Clippers, who shot 60.3 percent from the field.

Brand, who had 17 points in the first quarter and 21 in the first half, hit jumpers from all over the floor and finished two points short of his season high.

The Magic opened the second half with a 14-5 run but fell behind quickly in the fourth quarter.

Bobcats 97, Pistons 89

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Sean May scored 17 and fellow reserve Matt Carroll added 16 for the Bobcats, who snapped the Pistons' eight-game winning streak.

PHILADELPHIA - Ricky Davis, who jawed with taunting front-row fans, scored 14 of his 22 in the fourth quarter for the Timberwolves.

Hawks 107, Trail Blazers 96

PORTLAND, Ore. - Joe Johnson had 33 points for the Hawks, snapping a nine-game losing streak to the Trail Blazers.
