Too used to humans

Sandhill cranes take an afternoon stroll Friday around a subdivision under construction in Wesley Chapel. Some of the birds at the subdivisions Meadow Pointe III and IV are being tortured and abused. One had its legs chopped off. Another had a nail shot through its skull. The birds have become too adapted to human contact, being fed bread and birdseed thrown out by construction workers and residents. Once their habitat is overtaken, some wildlife advocates wonder what's next for the birds. For more, see Tampa & State.
