CHRISTMAS LUNCHEON LETS YOU EAT, GREET AND BE MERRY DEC. 19

Seminole Recreation will hold its annual Christmas Luncheon on Dec. 19 in the auditorium of the Holland G. Mangum Recreation Complex.

Lunch includes a festive meal and live music followed by a screening of the movie National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. The luncheon is $7.

When: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 19.

Youth board meeting and free films at library

There are several events at the Seminole Community Library, 9200 113th St. N.

* The Library Youth Advisory Board meets at 7 p.m. Thursday.

* Take a break from the holiday rush and catch a free movie screening at the library.

The Classic Movie Matinee program shows movies Fridays at 1 p.m.; free popcorn and sodas are provided. Homeward Bound will play Friday, followed by The Fortune Cookie on Dec. 15.

* The library's Family Movie series is Saturdays at 2 p.m. Films screened are appropriate for all ages and free popcorn and sodas are provided. Coming up Saturday is Iron Will followed by Beauty & the Beast: Enchanted Christmas on Dec. 16.

Meet tonight about Pow-Wow Festival

The Pow-Wow Festival planning meeting is scheduled for tonight.

Sign youth up to play in basketball programs

It's time for winter youth basketball and the city's recreation department is offering two programs beginning in January.

Registration will begin Jan. 2 for boys and girls born between 1992 and 1997 to play in the league. The season will run from February through May. The fee for registration is $70 per child and a current recreation card is required.

A noncompetitive instruction basketball program is also available for children born 1998-1999. The program fee is $40 per child and a current recreation card is required.

Both of the Seminole Recreation Center Youth Basketball programs will be fun and instructional. Each will encourage all children to participate and learn to play as a team.

The basketball program is also looking for volunteer coaches.

Selected coaches will be eligible for discounted program fees for their participating children.

Coaches require past playing experience and/or a working knowledge of basketball.

All coaches will complete a volunteer coach's application and background screening.
