FSU 82, Stetson 63
Toney Douglas scored 16 to lead Florida State to an 82-63 victory over Stetson on Tuesday.
The Seminoles (6-2), fresh off a victory over defending national champion Florida, used their depth to wear down the Hatters. Florida State's reserves outscored Stetson's subs 25-8, led by Ralph Mims' 10 points.
Garfield Blair and Gabe McMillen led the Hatters (3-6) with 15 apiece.
Florida State scoring leader Al Thornton finished with 10 points on 3-of-7 shooting but received plenty of help. Uche Echefu added 12 points for the Seminoles, and Jason Rich finished with 10.
The Seminoles led 65-40 midway through the second half before Stetson rallied to within 71-57 with 2:46 remaining.
Florida State led 50-28 at halftime, using a 17-4 run to erase at 10-7 deficit. Mims sparked a 90-second surge, sandwiching a four-point play and a 3-pointer around a put-back dunk and two free throws from Thornton.
The Seminoles closed the half by scoring the final nine for their largest lead.
Douglas, who made key plays in the victory over Florida, has scored in double figures in six games this season.
The Seminoles play at Georgia State at 7 on Thursday, then play host to Southeastern Louisiana at 2 on Sunday.
The Seminoles take a break for semester exams after their game against the Lions and do not play from Dec. 11 through 18 when they play host to High Point.
