Garcia's college plans wait another day

Quarterback Stephen Garcia, the Tampa Bay area's all-time leading passer for yardage (8,081) and touchdowns (83), said he will announce his commitment to a college at Jefferson High at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, a day after originally planned.

The change was made to accommodate coverage with ESPN, which will release the news nationally at that time.

Garcia, one of the most recruited football players in the country, has his choices narrowed to South Carolina, Oklahoma and Mississippi.

Garcia said he is considering graduating high school in December and moving to his college for the spring semester to get a jump on his football development.

"That decision (graduating early) will have to wait a little bit though," Garcia said. "I need just a little more time to think about that."
