TOY HISTORIAN TO SPEAK, SIGN BOOK AT MUSEUM

Crazy about toys? National toy historian and author Tim Walsh will be at the St. Petersburg Museum of History on Thursday to speak and sign copies of his book Timeless Toys.

The event is part of the museum's holiday party, lecture and membership drive. Refreshments will include holiday foods, wine and other beverages. Admission is $5. Event starts at 6:30 p.m. at the museum, 335 Second Ave. NE. RSVP at 894-1052, ext. 205.

A party for peace

Bartlett Park Crime Watch is hosting a community block party Saturday on the corner of 15th Avenue and Seventh Street S to celebrate peace in the neighborhood.

"For decades this corner has been a center of drugs and violence. Recently the corner has been cleaned up by residents working in cooperation with the police department," according to a neighborhood announcement. Activities start at 2 p.m.

Christmas dinner

Volunteers are needed for the annual Suncoast Haven of Rest Rescue Mission Christmas dinner Dec. 25. Dinner will be served at 1 p.m. A cooked or prepared side dish is welcome. The mission is at 5625 Park Blvd. Call 545-8282.
