The students of Wider Horizons School collected more than $1,000 for UNICEF. Years ago, Wider Horizons chose to support UNICEF because of a personal experience of its directors, Domenick Maglio and his wife, Julie. Maglio contracted malaria while the couple were in Peru volunteering for the Peace Corps. When no one else could provide help for him, UNICEF sent a medical packet which contained quinine. "It saved my life," Maglio said.
Fox Chapel plans a busy December
Fox Chapel has some events coming up: Tonight at 6:30, the Dolphin Team Show has "What You Know" in the Tiger Cafe. The Elective Team has its "What You Know" on Dec. 18 at 6:30 p.m. On Dec. 11, check out the SAC and Title I meetings in the media center at 6 p.m.
Grant will help offset rocket costs
Gulf Coast Academy secured a grant from the FSGC Aerospace Education Program to subsidize the cost of rockets for its annual sixth-grade rocket science project.

Students stretch for yoga instructor
At West Hernando Middle School, on a recent Friday, one class had a visit from a trained yoga instructor. They stretched out on the floor and got all cosmic. Experts say that's a good way to promote learning power.

Not too late to buy custom-made gifts
