NEW CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS MAKE IT OFFICIAL AT MEETING

Chip Fletcher and Frank Reddick on Thursday officially became members of the Tampa City Council when they were sworn into office.

Reddick and Fletcher will serve until after the city elections in March.

They take seats that were left vacant when Rose Ferlita and Kevin White resigned last month to run for the Hillsborough County Commission.

Fletcher holds a citywide seat; Reddick represents a portion of the city that includes East Tampa.

Reddick was fairly quiet during his first meeting, asking a question about the cost of buying hybrid vehicles for the city's fleet.

Fletcher was a bit more talkative, posing several queries about the sale of city land in South Tampa and school capacity.

Reddick has filed to run for election to the council in the spring.

Fletcher has said he will not be running for election.
