The Diamonds to sing at Elks dinner show

Aripeka Elks Lodge 2520 will host a dinner show featuring The Diamonds on Dec. 16 at the lodge, 9135 Denton Ave. Dinner will be at 6 p.m., and show time is at 7:30 p.m.

The Diamonds are four male entertainers who will present a Christmas show that will include their hit Little Darlin' and holiday favorites such as Jingle Bell Rock, I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus and Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree.

Tickets are $28 for prime seating and $26 for general seating. Reservations are a must. Stop by the office between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays or call Judy at (727) 868-2994, ext. 14.

Deadline nearing for kids' Christmas party

VFW Post 9236 will host the annual children's Christmas Party at 11 a.m. Dec. 16 at the post, 3435 Shoal Line Blvd.

Reservations are required by Wednesday, and the party is limited to 100 children.

RIDGE MANOR WEST

Hearing to discuss I-75 options is Wednesday

The Florida Department of Transportation will conduct a public meeting from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Ridge Manor West Community Center, 6376 Windmere Road.

The hearing will be to present proposed construction options for widening Interstate 75 from just north of State Road 52 in Pasco County to just south of County Road 476B in Sumter County. The proposed project includes a two-phase widening to six lanes from four.

State DOT representatives will answer questions at 5 p.m., with the hearing beginning at 6 p.m. Project documents will be available for review, but are available through Dec. 23 at the East Hernando Branch Library, 6457 Windmere Road.

Property appraiser offices to open late

The Hernando County property appraiser offices will be closed from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday for training purposes.

The offices are at Brooksville City Hall, 201 Howell Ave., Brooksville, and at the Westside Government Center, 7525 Forest Oaks Blvd., Spring Hill.

Entries for children's pageants due Dec. 15

Florida Star USA Pageants will present a Happy Holidays 2006 Children's Pageant and Baby Contest from 1 to 5 p.m. Dec. 17 at Stage West Community Playhouse, 8390 Forest Oaks Blvd.

The event will include a traditional beauty pageant, dancing, entertainment acts, and trophies and prizes for all contestants.

There will also be an after-party with Santa.

The basic entry fee is $49, and optional categories are available. Entries should be received by Dec. 15.

Admission for audience members is $10 for adults and $5 for children.

The pageant is a benefit for Toys for Tots, and all participants and attendees are asked to bring a new toy. For information, call Stephanie Sims at 678-9588.

Southern Exposure presents holiday show

The Southern Exposure Christmas Show will be presented Dec. 16 at the Hernando Performing Arts Center, 700 Bell Ave. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and show time is 7 p.m.

BROOKSVILLE

City offers junior golf program for ages 7-17

The city of Brooksville Parks and Recreation's First Tee of Brooksville will offer a junior golf program during Christmas break.

The program will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 27-30 and Jan. 2-6 at the Quarry Golf Course, 800 John Gary Grubbs Blvd. It is open to youth ages 7-17.

The program is open to all levels (par, birdie and eagle) and will offer PGA instruction, rules and etiquette.

The cost is $20 for active First Tee participants and $35 for all others. First Tee school scholarships are available.

Registration must be made by Dec. 22.
