What's stylish this year? The black Christmas tree.
From Target to the chic boutiques, "It's so metrosexual Fifth Avenue," says Douglas Aaron Ptacek, an Atlanta designer. His wholesale company sold out of all its black decorations by Nov. 1.
But it's not too late. Spray-paint a white tree black, deck it with gold and silver, and you're in business.
Bill Quinn of Dallas-based Christmastreeforme.com said the artificial black Christmas trees, selling for $149 to $399, are among his shop's top five sellers this year.
Frontgate, an upscale home decor catalog business, is selling black and silver wreaths for $229, pitched as "sophistication shimmered with silver."
