Cincinnati vs. Western Michigan

When/where: Noon; Rogers Centre, Toronto

TV: ESPN2

Line: Cincinnati by 7.

Records: Cincinnati 7-5, Western Michigan 8-4

The game: Cincinnati has played the second-toughest schedule in Division I-A (opponents have a .619 winning percentage). Western Michigan is 11th in total defense (269.4 ypg). ... This is the first bowl played in Canada. Cincinnati's coach in the regular season was Mark Dantonio, who left for Michigan State. The new Bearcats coach is Brian Kelly, who left Central Michigan. Kelly and CMU defeated Western Michigan 31-7 on Nov. 10; a Cincinnati win today would make Kelly the first coach in history with two victories over a school in the same season while coaching different teams. The Bearcats have won four of their past five, including victories over USF and Rutgers, and if they win today the Big East will be 5-0 in bowls. On offense, tailback Greg Moore and tight end Brent Celek are the players to watch. The Broncos have been great against the run (fifth nationally, 71.9 ypg). Linebacker Ameer Ismail leads the nation with 17 sacks and the team with 86 tackles. For WMU to win, quarterback Ryan Cubit - the son of coach Bill Cubit - must have a big day.
