Citizens Property Insurance Corporation will cohost an educational forum with state Sen. Mike Fasano and Rep. Rob Schenck from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Palace Grand, 275 Della Court, off Commercial Way. The forum is to discuss recent changes made during the regular and special session of the Florida Legislature, particularly to changes in sinkhole coverage (sinkhole coverage is now optional to Hernando and Pasco homeowners). Don't miss student artists' reception

Apply for the Angels in Adoption campaign

U.S. Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite is accepting applications for the 2007 Angels in Adoption campaign. Nominees must be residents of the 5th Congressional District, which includes Hernando County, and must be received by July 31 at Brown-Waite's office in Room 200 of the Hernando County Government Center, 20 N Main St., Brooksville.

The winner will be invited to attend the Angels in Adoption gala Oct. 10 in Washington, D.C. The winner will be responsible for airfare and accommodations.

The Angels in Adoption campaign, hosted by the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute, is a national movement to raise awareness about adoption and related issues. For information, call 799-8354 or toll-free 1-866-492-4835.

Sloppy joes and music at VFW Beach Party

VFW Post 9236 will host its second annual Beach Party on Saturday at the post, 3435 Shoal Line Blvd.

A sloppy joe platter will be served from 3 to 6 p.m. for $5 per plate. Music by Maurice will start at 3 p.m.

Annual Fur Ball to help Humane Society's pets

Sponsorships and donations of auction items are available for the Humane Society of the Nature Coast's fourth annual Fur Ball, which will be Sept. 29 at the Palace Grand, 275 Della Court.

The event will begin with a cocktail hour and cash bar from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner of a buffet to include a vegetarian grill, angel hair pasta, apple and almond-stuffed chicken and roasted pork tenderloin. Dessert will be included.

A silent auction will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Music for dancing will be provided by Cover to Cover and there will be a show featuring the 4 Non-Breeders.

Tickets to the ball are $75 per person. All proceeds will benefit the homeless pets at the local Humane Society.

Special Olympics to start bowling program

The Special Olympics will begin its bowling program at 2 p.m. Sunday at Spring Hill Lanes, 3447 Commercial Way.

All athletes are asked to be in the lounge at 1:30 p.m. for a meeting and lane assignments.
