A Marion County circuit judge will consider the latest battle between the county and the Spring Hill Fire Rescue District later this week. The hearing before Senior Judge William Swigert is scheduled for 9 a.m. Thursday in Hernando County Circuit Court. Fire District lawyers will ask the judge to unfreeze district assets. Last week, Fire District attorneys filed an injunction request after learning that the district had been dissolved, according to a list kept by the state Department of Community Affairs. That led Clerk of the Circuit Court Karen Nicolai, whose office oversees the Fire District's money, to put a hold on district assets. In the complaint filed Friday, Fire District attorneys also noted that the district cannot be dissolved without a referendum.
