Keystone won the 10-11 softball state championship, defeating Cape Coral 6-1 in the final at Fort Myers.
Megin Eskew had three hits, including a double and a triple, and drove in three runs. In the third inning, Jennifer Rogers made a diving catch in the outfield with the bases loaded to end the inning and prevent a Cape Coral rally.
Kellee Ramsey was the winning pitcher with a complete game and five strikeouts. Ashley Weisman was solid behind the plate, throwing out five base runners in the tournament.
MAJOR SOFTBALL: Palma Ceia/Interbay/Tampa Bay defeated Naples 5-2 in the state semifinals Monday. Caroline Ellis hit a bases loaded three-run single in the first inning for PC/IB/TB. Sarah Miller was the winning pitcher, going all six innings and striking out five. PC/IB/TB faces Plant City for the championship at 7 tonight in Deland.
SENIOR SOFTBALL: Citrus Park fell in the state championship 5-4 to Port St. John.
The Tampa Terror defeated the Orlando O-Town Warriors 2-1 Saturday to win the Division II 11-Under National Championship at Disney's Wide World of Sports. Kyle Johnson had a home run in the win and Kyle Sanchez scored the Terror's second run on a single by David Paul. Paul also earned the win on the mound, while Alec Orosco picked up the save.
Paul, Johnson, Danny Brackman and Nick D'Ambrosino were named to the to the all-tournament team. The other members of the team were Evan Cannan, Cameron Churchill, James Condren, Zack Kampsen, Jacob Richardson and Jack Syron. The team was coached by Jim Richardson, Rich Cannan and Dave Brackman.
Forest Hills will travel to Burleson, Texas, to compete in the PONY South Zone tournament. Forest Hills won the Southeast Regional in Newnan, Ga., last week, defeating the host team 5-3. The team's first game in Burleson is Aug. 5 at 11 a.m.
