When it comes to sucking up to celebrities, no magazine does it as skillfully and doggedly as OK! But Britney Spears was such a toxic-spill train wreck during a recent self-arranged photo shoot and interview that OK! has decided not to gloss over it in a story due out Friday. "OK! magazine spent a heartbreaking day with Britney Spears and witnessed firsthand an emotional cry for help that will leave you shocked and sad," editor in chief Sarah Ivens said in a statement to celebrity news Web site TMZ.com. "The truth will be told." TMZ, which first reported about the shoot, said Spears was "completely out of it" and the photos are so bad, they could kill her career. Also, Spears' mood was extremely erratic, the site said. She took frequent bathroom breaks, and each time she returned, her mood would change. After eating some fried chicken, she wiped her hands on a several-thousand-dollar Gucci dress she was wearing for the shoot, staining it with grease, TMZ said. And when one of her dogs used the floor as a toilet, she cleaned up the mess with an equally expensive Chanel dress. The Associated Press couldn't reach a Spears representative for comment.
Network says it will discover the truth
The Discovery Channel is looking into claims that the host of its show Man vs. Wild doesn't rough it as much as viewers are led to believe, the Hollywood Reporter says. An investigation by a British TV network found that Man vs. Wild host Bear Grylls retreated to a hotel room on at least two occasions when it was purported that he slept "in the wild." (To be fair, TVGuide.com points out, the hotel was a Motel 6.) Discovery says, "Moving forward, the program will be 100 percent transparent, and all elements . . . will be explained to our viewers."
