Does your child have healthy teeth and gums? Oral health problems in children account for more than 50-million hours of lost school time in the United States each year. This week, you can take steps to better prepare your child for the upcoming school term. Free dental exams and X-rays are being offered this week for children ages 1 to 18 at the following locations. The exams are available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Works by local artists will be exhibited Saturday at the Flair for the Arts festival from 6 to 9 p.m. (weather permitting) around the gazebo at Ulmer Park, 301 East Bay Drive, in downtown Largo. Have a knack for baking sweets?

Don't forget to bring your best dessert. The Bluffs BBQ & Family Fun Day is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Belleair Bluffs City Hall and Community Center, 2747 Sunset Blvd. Activities include an essay contest and live entertainment. Desserts brought by festivalgoers will be grouped into four categories - cookies, pies, cakes and other - and judged. A barbecue lunch will be offered by Belleair Bluffs Firefighters.
