The curtain slowly opened and the spotlight lit the stage on this year's Summer Lyric Theater Conservancy, which attracted a crowd of 3,200 for the four performances at the Palladium at SPC in St. Petersburg. The high school students sang and twirled, capturing hearts in their performance of High School Musical over the weekend. In less than a month of rehearsals, area teens studied their parts, built the multilevel set and bowed to standing ovations after each show. As the curtain closed and the spotlight lost its fire, they hugged and kissed. But for these youngsters with dreams, the performance wasn't over. Dozens of young children lined up and requested just one more thing from the cast members: a signature, an autograph, a tangible fragment for posterity.
