Pie makers are being sought to compete in a contest during the Spring Hill 40th Birthday Bash.
The contest will be in two categories: fruit pies and other pies. Judging will be Sept. 23 at the Lake House, 1202 Kenlake Ave. The contest is open to all Spring Hill residents.
Registration is limited and must be done by Aug. 15. Call Cara at the Spring Hill Community Association at 666-4746.
Break out your grass skirt for luau night
The Latin American Civic and Cultural Association will host a Hawaiian Night Luau from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday at SNPJ Hall, 13383 County Line Road.
Music will be provided by DJ Mike Martinez and will include limbo, salsa, merengue, cumbia and others. Attendees are encouraged to wear Caribbean or Hawaiian attire. A prize will be given for the best Hawaiian outfit.

Businesses, artists needed for festival
The Hernando County Fine Arts Council invites artists, local restaurants and catering businesses to participate in a jazz festival the council is planning for Nov. 3 and 4 at Weeki Wachee Springs.
The event will include jazz acts as well as Taste of Hernando, a celebration of culinary opportunities in Hernando County. Participating restaurants and caterers will sell taste-size portions.
Artists can display and sell their wearable arts and crafts, such as jewelry, hats, T-shirts and other clothing for adults, children, pets and dolls.
