BRAZILIAN PIANIST, BAND CELEBRATE JAZZ

Brazilian jazz is again the theme for the Emit series, which is bringing back pianist Haroldo Mauro, shown here, for a pair of concerts this weekend. Mauro, born in 1949, lived in the United States for 19 years and played with the likes of Joe Lovano, Andy LaVerne, Harvey Swartz, Billy Drews, John Scofield and Brian Torf before returning to Rio de Janeiro in 1992. He'll perform Brazilian jazz classics and his own works on a program that also includes the band O Som Do Jazz with vocalist Andrea Moraes Manson.
