Man accused of two burglaries
An 18-year-old Brooksville man was arrested Thursday on 10 charges after authorities say he confessed to burglarizing two Weeki Wachee homes. In May and June, the Sheriff's Office says Steven Ellis Leacock broke into a home on Finance Avenue and stole 218 collectible die-cast cars and a telescope, reports said. He then pawned the items for a combined $708 at Florida Pawn Brokers. The homeowner, who was away for a few weeks, found Leacock's work identification card in his home when he returned, arrest reports said. Leacock also is charged with stealing $1,300 worth of items from a Bass Road home. Investigators say Leacock told them he needed the money because he is homeless.
