Open house: Congregation Beth Shalom invites the public to learn about the range of services and activities at the synagogue and register for religious school. Besides the school for students in prekindergarten through the 10th grade and other youth programs, the synagogue offers groups for women and men, Chavurah groups, adult education, holiday celebrations and more. The open house and light bagel breakfast lasts from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Aug. 12 at Congregation Beth Shalom, 706 Bryan Road, Brandon. For more information, call the synagogue at 681-6547 or go online to www.bethshalom-brandon.org.
Jewish Men's Club: A newly formed Brandon Jewish Men's Club gathers for burgers and beer on Aug. 5. The club, organizer Brad Statter says, aims to connect men in the Brandon area, whether they are religious or nonreligious.
Meetings will likely be held once a month on Sunday afternoons or evenings, with "major" outings once or twice a year. Contact Statter for location and other details at 689-8275 or by e-mail at email@example.com.
