Following a brief summer hiatus, the Lealman Community Association resumes its monthly meetings this evening with state Rep. Rick Kriseman scheduled as the guest speaker. Kriseman will offer a legislative update and discuss concerns related to proposed tax cuts. The group meets the first Wednesday of each month.

Free smoke detectors available for residents
Residents of Lealman are eligible to receive free smoke detectors courtesy of Lealman Fire and Rescue.

Family Center offers variety of programs

Adopt-a-Block program in need of volunteers
Lealman is seeking volunteer groups to improve the community by reducing litter one block at a time.
The Adopt-a-Block program for Lealman is managed by Keep Pinellas Beautiful Inc., which supplies trash bags, gloves and general liability insurance coverage to volunteer crews. Three blocks in Lealman have been adopted.
Volunteer groups from businesses, schools, civic, social, fraternal, community or religious organizations are welcome to participate. For information, contact Keep Pinellas Beautiful at 533-0402, or visit www. keeppinellasbeautiful.org.
If litter bugs you, use new 24-hour hotline
Keep Pinellas Beautiful has a new 24-hour litter reporting hotline. To report litter or request litter removal, call 210-4663. Callers will need to provide a street address or crossroads, description of the problem and a contact phone number. Keep Pinellas Beautiful will coordinate with the appropriate city or county departments to address litter reports.
