Today's the day the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority begins collecting items to send to service members overseas. The hope is to fill several buses with items and deliver them to MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, where base personnel will send them to the soldiers.
Desired items includes new T-shirts, underwear, socks, insect repellent, sunblock, breath mints, disposable cameras, stationery, stamps, instant oatmeal and coffee.
Please note: Home-baked goods and alcohol are taboo.
Drop items off during weekday business hours and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekends at: PSTA headquarters, 3201 Scherer Drive and Central Plaza customer service center, Central Avenue and 32nd Street, both in St. Petersburg; and Park Street customer service center, Park Street and Garden Avenue, Clearwater.
A complete list is at PSTA.net.
