How bad, historically, was the Dow drop July 26-27?

Not bad at all. The Dow fell a combined 519.6 points those days, or 3.77%. The worst one-day selloff was Oct. 19, 1987, when the Dow dropped 22.6%. On Oct. 29, 1929, the Dow dropped 12.8% and started the Depression. On Sept. 17, 2001, the first day the markets were open after the 9/11 attacks, the Dow fell 7.1%.
