COLTS CUT FORMER PRO BOWL TACKLE

The Colts released defensive tackle Corey Simon on Saturday.

The Florida State star and sixth pick in 2000 did not pass a physical last weekend. He was expected to report to camp July 29 but was never seen.

The team did not comment. Last week, it said it was close to a settlement with Simon, who left the Eagles for a five-year, $30-million deal in 2005.

Simon, a Pro Bowl pick in 2003, did not play last year and was eventually placed on the nonfootball illness/injury list with an undisclosed ailment.

Also, tight end Mike Seidman will miss the season while continuing to recover from a second torn left ACL sustained in October while with Carolina.

COWBOYS: Starting right tackle Marc Colombo practiced for the first time. He missed 15 workouts while recovering from right knee surgery. But Colombo likely will sit out Thursday's preseason game.

PANTHERS: Linebacker Jon Beason, the 25th pick in April, and his agent are scheduled to meet with the team today in Charlotte, N.C., about a contract. Neither Michael Huyghue nor the team commented.

TITANS: Defensive tackle and fifth-round pick Antonio Johnson will miss the season after tearing his left ACL during a drill Wednesday.
