Annika Sorenstam, above, survived her toughest day in a major only to remain seven shots behind the leader.
The Swede shot 4-over 77 Saturday and is 1 over for the tournament, trailing Lorena Ochoa after three rounds at the wind-swept Women's British Open in St. Andrews, Scotland.
"I would think these were the toughest conditions in a major, maybe ever," Sorenstam said.
Her play improved later in the round.
"I believe I shot level-par the last 10 or 11 holes," she said. "I'd take that any time in a championship like this. I just didn't get off to a good start."
Sorenstam bogeyed four of the first seven holes before settling down in the last 11 holes. She had her only birdie of the day at the 17th.
