AIRLINE STATS IN RAPID DECLINE

It's official: From late flights to lost baggage, air travel has reached a new low in 2007, comparing data for the first six months of this year with those from the same period in years past. Blame overcrowded skies, an overtaxed air traffic system, bad weather and fewer airline employees at airports.

Flight delays for the first half of this year hit their highest level since the government started tracking the numbers in 1995.

Your luggage is more likely to get lost, damaged, stolen or delayed than at any time in at least eight years.
