A woman who was accused of trying to drive home drunk from a restaurant with her 9-year-old daughter pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge Tuesday and received 10 days in jail. Michelle Angst, 32, drew attention after a February incident in which Seminole Assistant Fire Chief Michael Wallace convinced her daughter to get out of Angst's car outside a Macaroni Grill at 2302 Tyrone Blvd. N. and contacted police. Prosecutors with the Pinellas-Pasco State Attorney's Office said they were disappointed by Judge John Carballo's sentence. "We let the court know that we wanted 270 days," prosecutor Erin Whittemore said.
SENTENCE IS OKAY WITH YOUNG VICTIM
The little blond boy didn't hesitate when the prosecutor asked him what should happen to the man who kicked him so hard it snapped his right thigh bone. "I want him to go to jail," said the boy, now 6. Hillsborough Circuit Judge J. Rogers Padgett agreed and sentenced George Allen Ross to 11 years in prison Tuesday. Ross, 27, pleaded guilty to one count each of child abuse and aggravated child abuse. It wasn't the first time Ross struck the boy. In February 2004, he broke the boy's left thigh bone. According to the stepmother, he and an older brother are still suffering the effects of the abuse. The younger boy had to wear a cast from the waist down and may have lasting physical problems from the broken legs, she said.
