TENT OF BLESSINGS GALA FEATURES FOOTBALL GREAT

NFL star Terry Bradshaw will be the special guest at Tent of Blessings, an event to benefit Esther's School of St. Petersburg, which serves special-needs children.

Bradshaw has battled attention-deficit (hyperactivity) disorder and will share his experiences at the dinner-auction at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the TradeWinds Island Grand Resort, 5500 Gulf Blvd., St. Pete Beach. A VIP reception will be at 6:30 p.m.

SEPT. 11 ELECTION ON TAP FOR 2 CITY COUNCIL SEATS

St. Petersburg will hold a Sept. 11 primary election for City Council seats in Districts 3 and 5.

Residents in these districts must be registered by Aug. 13 to be eligible to vote.

The deadline to register for the Nov. 6 general election is Oct. 9.

Register during business hours at any supervisor of elections office, public library, driver's license office or government building that handles social services or disabilities.

ENJOY MUSIC, GREAT EATS AT SUNDAY'S FOOD FEST

The Asian and Vietnamese Ethnic Vegetarian Food Fest will be held Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1770 62nd Ave. N.

SEABIRD SANCTUARY TO HOST BEACH CELEBRATION AUG. 11

Save Our Seabirds Beach Celebration will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 11 at the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary, 18328 Gulf Blvd., Indian Shores. Those attending can visit the sanctuary's baby birds and 500 rehabilitating birds.

The event also will include a fish fry and live music by Michelle Glean and Pat Barmore.

TEENAGERS WITH INTEREST IN FIREFIGHTING ARE SOUGHT

St. Petersburg Fire and Rescue Explorer Post 952 is seeking young men and women ages 14-19 who are interested in firefighting or firefighter paramedics.

Members must have completed eighth grade and maintain a C average. Meetings are at 7 p.m. every first and third Wednesday of the month at 455 Eighth St. S, second-floor classroom. Call 893-7233.

MUSEUM TOUR TO TEACH KIDS ABOUT FIRE SAFETY

The Kid's Firehouse Museum in Largo offers tours Monday-Thursday for groups of 10 or more.

The museum teaches children about fire safety and has 12 antique fire trucks, memorabilia, a movie theater and a playground and picnic area.

Admission is free, donations are encouraged and reservations are required. To book a tour, call 585-1300.
