Kelly Campbell scored the golden goal off a beautiful pass from Jolie Anniclianco in the first overtime period to give Clearwater Central Catholic a 1-0 victory over Berkeley Prep (10-11-3) in a region semifinal Tuesday.
The Marauders (15-5-5) dominated the first 40 minutes. Campbell had the first scoring opportunity and missed on a point-blank shot. Anniclianco also missed on a direct opportunity after a cross from Lindsey Cooper.
Cooper missed on the Marauders' best scoring chance of the first half as a running cross almost skidded past Buccaneers keeper Hope Ellis.
In the second half Berkeley's offensive attack began to take shape. Brooke Banning whiffed on a clear shot with 25 minutes remaining and Whitney Hang's header went wide at the 20-minute mark.
The Buccaneers' best chance came inside of 12 minutes when CCC goalkeeper Mackenzie Kehner almost mishandled a wide-angle shot from Banning. The ball went through her legs but she recovered before it could trickle into the net.
