MANY NEW TENANTS HEADED FOR STRIP MALL

Arbor Square, the strip mall at Connerton, is getting new tenants. The new leases, announced Tuesday by Tom Kates, president of developer Stiles Realty Co., include Family Dental at Connerton; a fashion boutique Chick Chat; Subway sandwich shop; Elite Martial Arts; H&R Block; China Wok; and Hubert W. O'Brien, a State Farm Insurance agent.

Meeting topic is work on SR 54, 56

The state Department of Transportation is holding a public awareness meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. today on the expansion of State Roads 54 and 56. The four-lane portion of the east-west road, from just east of U.S. 41 to Interstate 75, will be enlarged to six lanes. Construction starts Sunday night. Today's meeting is conducted by the planning firm WilsonMiller, Pasco County and the state DOT at Myrtle Lake Baptist Church, 2017 Riegler Road, Land O'Lakes.

Work to begin on long-term facility

University Community Hospital will start work Tuesday on its 50-bed long-term care facility at Connerton, the 4,800-acre development on U.S. 41. The groundbreaking ceremony, at 4:30 p.m., starts roughly two years of work, expected to be completed in winter 2009. The 38-acre facility, which is for patients with chronic illnesses who need to remain in the hospital for several weeks, will feature private rooms, an operating room, a chapel and a gift shop. The long-term care facility is not the same as the hospital UCH intends to build in Wesley Chapel at Bruce B. Downs Boulevard and State Road 56.

RV, mobile home nudist village opens

Lake Como Family Nudist Resort just opened a new village for RVs and mobile homes. The 4-year-old redevelopment project now features 33 new mobile home spaces, 39 new RV spaces with full hookups and a new bathhouse with indoor laundry facilities. Lake Como is showing off the new village at a free open house from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 9, complete with music, hot dogs, beer and soft drinks. The redevelopment project was launched to meet the needs of nudists who want a higher standard of living and camping options, a news release said. Identification is required for the open house.
