LIBRARY CLOSED THIS MORNING DURING RACE

BROOKSVILLE

Lykes Memorial Library will be closed from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. today for the Red Mule Runners' Flatlanders Challenge Road Race. There will also be temporary road access delays and street closures throughout downtown Brooksville from 7 a.m. to noon while the race takes place.

Mormon chapels to show funeral

Funeral services for president Gordon B. Hinckley, leader of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, who died Sunday at 97, will be broadcast live via satellite at 1 p.m. today to more than 6,000 churches throughout the world. Local Latter-day Saints chapels that will be open for viewing of the funeral are at 21043 Yontz Road, Brooksville, and 9016 Fort King Road, Dade City; the Dade City church will have it broadcast in both English and Spanish.

Antiwar activists to protest today

Antiwar activists from the Naturecoast Coalition for Peace and Justice will demonstrate against the Iraq war from 10 to 11:30 a.m. today on the southeast corner of Commercial Way and Cortez Boulevard (in front of the CVS). Anyone wishing to participate is welcome.

Park project will bring more shade

Hernando County Parks Department will close the playground at Anderson Snow Park starting Monday for the installation of a shade system. The playground is expected to reopen Feb. 13. The park is at 1360 Anderson Snow Road. For information, call 754-4027.
