Naples-based London Bay Homes has been named America's Best Builder for 2008 by Builder magazine. The award recognizes excellence in management practices, customer service, innovative design, marketing and community involvement. London Bay builds between 25 and 35 custom homes a year, priced from $1-million to $10-million, from Marco Island to Lakewood Ranch. Only six other Florida builders have been honored in the 16 years the award has been given.
Builders compete for the best builder award in five size categories. This year the magazine chose only two award winners, London Bay and Drees Homes of Fort Mitchell, Ky. In 2006 Drees built 2,666 single-family custom homes.
Peel and eat made simple
WeÍre enjoying the height of citrus season these days. The OXO Good Grips citrus peeler has a pointed tip to score the peel into sections. The flat edge slides under the peel to remove it easily and can also be used to remove the bitter white pith. ItÍs $5.99 at housewares stores, the big-box retailers.
