Clearwater cruised to the district final with a 65-45 victory over Tarpon Springs. The Tornadoes jumped out to a 21-3 lead at the end of the first quarter, fueled by Keona Dixon's game-high 17 points, including three 3-pointers.
The Tornadoes' full-court pressure was effective in the first half, leading to easy fastbreak points. Alli Corbett tried to keep the Spongers alive with 17 points. The Tornadoes' J'Beria Davis scored 15, making 5 of 9 free-throw attempts.
The Tornadoes move on to the district final against Dunedin, which advanced by beating Largo 46-32. The Packers made a valiant effort in the fourth quarter to try to get back into the game, but the Falcons proved too much in the end.
Jenae Swann scored a game-high 15 for the Falcons, getting offensive rebounds and turning them into chances at the free-throw line. Cara Trudell and LaTorya Davis were strong in the backcourt, controlling the offense for the Falcons; Trudell finished with nine points and was 4 for 4 from the free-throw line. Davis finished with six points.
