Robinson's senior class went 3-for-3 Saturday. Three seniors were in the lineup and they all earned district titles.
Matt Willis started it off with a pin for the 119-pound title, Joe Geerholt followed with a major decision for the 125 title, and Ellis St. John scored a pin for the 189 title. The Knights had four champions overall, including Zach Boyer (130), and will send 13 to regionals.
"I'm pretty happy," coach Tommy Montero said. "I called them over and told them there's no pressure on us. We have tons of (team) trophies. I wanted their individual efforts - I wanted them to be good."
The team tournament turned into a head-to-head dual between Robinson and Clearwater Central Catholic. The Marauders had a 167-156 lead heading into the medal round, but the Knights captured some early titles and closed in. From 135 on, however, CCC picked up six individual titles and finished with the team trophy. Robinson was runnerup.
Berkeley Prep took fifth and will send five to regionals. Ryan Pickren and Mark Timmel both reached the championship round, but brought home second-place ribbons.
