Broncos and former Bucs safety John Lynch wanted to make a decision on whether to retire by the Super Bowl, but now he says he will wait until after this weekend's Pro Bowl. Teammates are trying to talk Lynch into coming back for a 16th season. "We'll see what's in my heart when I'm over (in Hawaii for the Pro Bowl),'' Lynch told the Rocky Mountain News.

Snub of the day

Sports commissioners shouldn't automatically be inducted into halls of fame, but it was surprising former NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue did not make the Pro Football Hall of Fame over the weekend. His tenure had no labor stoppages, 17 new stadiums were built and the league, incredibly, was even stronger when he retired in 2006 than it was when he started in 1989. He deserves to be inducted.

Team of the day

Think about this. The Lightning has won 40 games or more in a season only three times in its history. Only three times because it's really hard to do. Now think about this: The Detroit Red Wings have won 40 games or more ... 10 years in a row! And this year, they have the same record (40-10-4) as they did at this stage in 1995-96 when they won an NHL-record 62 games.
