The second suspect wanted in the robbery and beating of a Brooksville woman surrendered to authorities Sunday. According to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office, family members persuaded Gary Wayne Sharp, 29, of Brooksville to meet with deputies at sheriff's headquarters, where he was arrested on charges of attempted murder with a deadly weapon, armed robbery and grand theft auto in the attack on Reba Myers, 49. Authorities said Sharp and an accomplice, Gary Abbate, 26, of Brooksville, beat and robbed Myers inside her home on Moon Road and then fled in her 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer. The victim, who walked to a neighbor's house for help, was later airlifted to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, where she remained Sunday. Early Saturday, deputies arrested Abbate on charges of attempted murder with a deadly weapon, armed robbery and grand theft auto. Both men were being held at the Hernando County Jail without bail Sunday night.
