Plant senior receiver Derek Winter orally committed to Auburn, Panthers coach Robert Weiner said. Holloway lands at Armwood

Plant City junior tailback Sirchauncey Holloway, who rushed for 972 yards last season, has transferred to Armwood, Hawks coach Sean Callahan confirmed.

Holloway was one of the county's most explosive backs last season and will try to fill a void at Armwood left by the graduation of Auburn-bound tailback Eric Smith. Holloway likely will compete with sophomore Sherman Jessie for the lead back spot in Armwood's offense next year.

Spoto could go 5A

The Spoto boys basketball program wasn't given a forgiving spot when it began its program two years ago.

The Spartans are in a Class 4A district with Lake Wales, Bartow and Kathleen, which means not only tough games, but also tougher road trips. Spoto coach Eric Brooks said the team got a charter bus this season, but still get home around midnight.

"It does put a burden on our boys to be out so late - we almost drive across the state," Brooks said.

Brooks said with the school's enrollment hovering around 1,400, it's possible the Spartans may get moved into a 5A district next year, either 5A-10 with Plant or 5A-8 with Brandon.

Huertas commits to Saint Leo
