The 97.5-million viewers who saw the Giants defeat the Patriots made it the most-watched Super Bowl ever and second biggest event in American television history, Nielsen Media Research said Monday. The M*A*S*H* series finale in 1983 had 106-million viewers. The previous Super Bowl record of 94.08-million was set when the Cowboys defeated the Steelers in 1996.
Tampa's 2009 logo unveiled
The Super Bowl comes to Tampa next year on Feb. 1, and the NFL debuted a no-frills logo Monday. According to a news release, the logo reflects "the natural elements of Tampa Bay, including the blue and green hues of the regional waterways and landscapes. The design showcases an abstract representation of a stadium and field. ... This represents the first time this color green has been used in an official game logo." Let the hype begin.
Patriots favored next season
Glantz-Culver has the Pats as the favorites to win it all in Tampa, at 2-1 odds. The Giants and Jaguars are tied for sixth at 12-1. The Bucs (35-1) are in a four-way tie for 12th; the Dolphins (250-1) are last.
