St. Petersburg Catholic High School will hold it's sixth annual Baron Gala, "Treasures of the Sea," at 6:30 p.m. March 1 at the St. John Bosco Center for the Arts, 6333 Ninth Ave. N.
Dinner will be provided by Lee Roy Selmon's and those attending can dance to the steel drum of Joseph Braccio. A live and silent auction also will be held.
Reservations are required. Tickets are $100 per person. They can be purchased at www.spchs.org. No tickets will be sold at the door.

Air potato roundup is Saturday at preserve
Boyd Hill Nature Preserve needs help controlling air potatoes and other invasive exotic species that attack native ecosystems.
The park, at 1101 Country Club Way S, will hold an air potato roundup workday starting at 9 a.m. Saturday to remove the plants.
In order to keep the preserve in a condition that is beneficial to animals and other plants, they will start hosting monthly workdays.
The next one is set for March 29. Dress appropriately and wear closed-toe shoes. Volunteers can sign up at the park or by calling 893-7326.
Agencies join forces for HIV/AIDS awareness
National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day is Thursday. The Pinellas County Health Department, Metropolitan Charities and the St. Petersburg Healthy Start Federal Project will offer prevention education and free HIV, hepatitis, and syphilis testing from noon to 5 p.m. at Metropolitan Charities, 3170 Third Ave. N. Open Air Market set for Fridays through March
Shop amid sea breezes at the Treasure Island Open Air Market each Friday in February and March from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Treasure Island Community Center, 1 Park Place, off 106th Avenue.
Fresh produce, arts and crafts, antiques, collectibles, food, and beverages will be available.

City plans to host Wednesday market
The city of St. Pete Beach is making plans to host a weekly "Wednesday Morning Fresh Market" and is seeking interested vendors to sell such items as fresh produce, spices, herbs, flowers, and unique home-made goods and crafts.

Touch-A-Truck event is Saturday at community center
The fourth annual Touch-A-Truck family event will roll in from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the St. Pete Beach Community Center, 7701 Boca Ciega Drive.
Kids of all ages can explore municipal vehicles and talk to the people who use them. The event also includes a moon bounce house, pottery creation station and refreshments. Free.

Charity art auction is Saturday at Tampa hotel
A charity art auction will be held by Park West Gallery starting with a reception and art preview at 7 p.m. Saturday; the auction is at 8 p.m. and again at 2 p.m. Sunday at Tampa Marriott Westshore, 1001 N West Shore Blvd., Tampa.
The event features artwork by master and contemporary artists. Proceeds help fund this year's Juneteenth celebration, a multicultural festival titled "Celebrating Freedom," that commemorates the emancipation of slavery. It will be held June 21 at Campbell Park in St. Petersburg. Call 743-6792.
