Black history talk at Pasco-Hernando Community College: 7 p.m., PST Auditorium (Room E-130) at the PHCC East Campus, 36727 Blanton Road, Dade City. The speaker will be Gary R. Mormino, author and University of South Florida professor. His topic will be "Jim Crow Meets G.I. Joe: World War II and Race Relations." Mormino, who has taught at USF since 1977, has written extensively on immigration and urban America. The presentation will be about one hour, including questions and answers. Free. Reception for artist Paul Shaskan: 7 to 9 p.m., Easy Street Home Decor, 838 E Jefferson St., Brooksville. Wine, sangria and cheese and crackers will be served. Door prizes will be awarded every half hour. Shaskan works primarily in oils. His work will be on exhibit at Easy Street throughout February. Cohosted by the Spring Hill Art League. Brooksville City Hall Art Gallery: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., 201 Howell Ave., Brooksville. The winter exhibit, which runs through Feb. 12, features displays by the Hernando Quilters, Suncoast Ship Model Society, Spring Hill Camera Club and a new selection of poetry by Just Poets members; paintings by artists Tony Caparello, Glenna Cofran, Shirley Jacobson, Barbara Kerr, Alberto Juliano, Jessica Miller, David C. Roland and LeAnn Steen. On loan is a painting by Mexican-American muralist Oscar Romaro, courtesy of Telma Ott. Also, wood artisan Ray Pope has a display of his furniture creations. 544-5407.
