The following events have been planned in celebration of Valentine's Day:

- The Arc Nature Coast's Sweetheart Dance will be from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday at West Hernando Middle School, 14325 Ken Austin Parkway, west of Brooksville. Admission is $2 per person, which includes food and beverages. A DJ will provide music; door prizes will be awarded. Donations of door prizes are appreciated. - The Filipino-American Social Club of Hernando County will host a Valentine Candlelight Dinner-Dance from 6:30 to 11 p.m. Saturday at VFW Post 10209, 14736 Edward R. Noll Drive, off Anderson Snow Road, Spring Hill. Entertainment will include the Rhythm in Motion band from Jacksonville. A full-course buffet dinner will include roast beef au jus, chicken marsala, rice pilaf, chef salad, vegetable medley, fresh-baked rolls, coffee and more. Ethnic Philippine desserts will be served. Romantic activities are planned. Tickets are $26 per person. - The Monday Crafters will host a Valentine's Day open house from noon to 3 p.m. Feb. 11 at Weeki Wachee Senior Citizens Club, 3357 Susan Drive, Spring Hill. There will be displays of the crafters' works, which will be available for purchase, including jewelry, crochet, knitting, plastic canvas, painting on glass and beadwork. Admission is free. Door prizes will be awarded; refreshments will be served. RSVP to Helen at 597-1538.

- The Hernando Harmonizers will offer singing valentines Feb. 13 and 14. The cost is $40, which includes two love songs sung by a Harmonizers quartet, a red silk rose, a greeting card with the giver's message and a Polaroid photo with the quartet. The singing valentines can be scheduled to be delivered between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Feb. 13 and 14. The Hernando Harmonizers is a men's barbershop chorus. Call Gene at 684-7931, or Art at 688-1182.

- The D'Lites quartet will offer singing valentines Feb. 14. The cost is $40, which includes two love songs, a rose or box of chocolates, a Valentine card and a picture of the occasion. The D'Lites is part of the Hernando Hills Hi-Lites, a women's barbershop chorus. The singing valentines can be scheduled between from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Call Jeannine at 683-4936.

- The "Out To Lunch" Quartet will provide singing valentines on Feb. 14. The cost is $35, which includes two songs, a card and a box of candy. The quartet is part of Suncoast Harmony Chorus, a chapter of Sweet Adelines, a women's barbershop chorus. To schedule a singing valentine, call Ruth at 688-8305.

-Brookridge Entertainment will host a Valentine's Day show featuring Fred Travalena on Feb. 14 at the Brookridge clubhouse, 8150 Hampton St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; showtime is 7 p.m. Known as the "Man of 1,000 Faces," Travalena is an entertainer, impressionist and comic who received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2005. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased in advance or at the door. Call Barb at 597-4620.

- St. Frances Cabrini Knights of Columbus Assembly 3022 will host a Sweetheart Dinner and Dance from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Feb. 16 in Xavier Hall, 5020 Mariner Blvd., Spring Hill. The dinner will include prime rib, baked potato, vegetable, salad and dessert. Coffee and soda will be provided. Music for dancing will be provided by Sing 50s Till Now. -American Legion Auxiliary Unit 186 Color Guard will host a traditional pot roast dinner and "Putting on the Glitz" Valentine's Party on Feb. 16 at Post 186, 10291 Cortez Blvd., Spring Hill. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. Entertainment by the Russians will follow. Dinner includes pot roast, new potatoes, carrots, onions and celery, sweet cabbage slaw, rolls with butter and orange dream cake. There will be three cash prizes awarded for $25, $15 and $10 for the Putting on the Glitz Decorated Hat Contest. There will also be door prizes and raffles. Tickets are $8 per person and are available in the post canteen, or by calling Nancy at 686-0454 or Carol at 799-5752.

- The Latin American Civic and Cultural Association will host a Valentine Dance at 8 p.m. Feb. 16 at SNPJ Lodge, 13383 County Line Road, Spring Hill. Music will be provided by DJ Cayuco. Prizes will be awarded to the best women and men in red. Those attending can bring their own beverages. The cost is $7 for members and $10 for nonmembers.
