Hike through the history of downtown St. Petersburg as a guide takes you on a 2-mile walking tour and shares some of the city's oldest secrets.
Learn why green benches once lined the streets - and why they were taken away. See some of the city's first hotels and homes. Stroll through the open-air post office - and find out what inspired the architect. With old photos and postcards, historians from St. Petersburg Preservationeven show you what has been lost from the downtown landscape.
The two-hour tour steps off at 10 a.m. Saturday in front of the Detroit Hotel, at the corner of Central Avenue and Second Street. Wear comfortable shoes. A $5 donation is requested.
