Nine-year-old Adam Carr, a budding artist who lives in Twelve Oaks, took a trip to Tallahassee on Monday to accept an award for his work.
Adam, a homeschooled fourth-grader, created a poster for a hazardous weather poster contest and won first place among more than 500 entrants. During Adam's all-expense paid trip to Tallahassee, Lt. Gov. Jeff Kottkamp and Craig Fugate, director of Florida Emergency Management, presented him with his award as part of a ceremony in the Senate Chambers at the state Capitol.
"We were very excited," said Adam's father, James Carr, who accompanied his son on the trip. "He is a very good artist."
