Former Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Antron Brown raced to his first No. 1 qualifying position in Top Fuel on Saturday at the NHRA Winternationals at Auto Club Raceway.
Tim Wilkerson and Greg Anderson also will lead their division into today's eliminations in the season-opening NHRA Powerade Drag Racing Series event.
Brown, who earned 11 top qualifying positions in more than a decade of racing on two wheels, was able to stay at the top of the field after qualifying. His run of 4.495 seconds at 330.07 mph from Friday topped the 16-car field.
Wilkerson took the No. 1 position in Funny Car in the last round of qualifying, driving his Chevy Impala SS to a 4.790-second run at 325.22 mph.
Greg Anderson remained the leader in Pro Stock, setting a track record for time and speed with his run of 6.629 seconds at 209.39 mph in a Pontiac GXP.
